The Spin Sensing Factory Corporation (SSF) was founded by Professor Yasuo Ando (Graduate School of Engineering) and Professor Nobukazu Nakasato (Graduate School of Medicine) alongside Honorary Professor Terunobu Miyazaki, who pioneered the discovery of the room-temperature tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) effect. Magnetic sensors developed at the SSF are small, light, and highly sensitive, making them applicable to various product applications. The SSF contributes to society by distributing advanced magnetic sensors.

OUR VISION
To Open Up New Medical & Health Care Application Fields using TMR Sensors
The tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) effect was discovered at room temperature by Emeritus Professor Terunobu Miyazaki at Tohoku University in 1994. After his discovery, this technology was applied to the read heads of hard disk drives, which improved the performance of the devices. The TMR effect has recently been applied to computer memory devices. In addition to industrial applications, the discovery of the TMR effect has triggered the establishment of a new research field called spintronics, which is an interdisciplinary area between magnetism and electronics.
The Spin Sensing Factory is a sensor company that opens up new possibilities for application fields of magnetic sensors using our sensor elements and modules by applying them to medical and healthcare applications.
For example, by applying our small and lightweight TMR sensors to medical technologies, we can create a society where people can undergo high-level medical diagnostics anytime and anywhere. In addition, disease prediction is not a dream if we utilize the advantage of high spatial resolution for magnetic fields. Moreover, non-invasive detectivity is another merit of bio-magnetic field monitoring, which widely expands the application fields of magnetic sensors.
